Recovery Console: preloading SATA drivers? I don't have a floppy drive to F6/load SATA drivers

I'm a new user. UBCD4Win looks like an amazing life/time/computer saver!

My question: Is it possible to create a UBCD4Win (3.12) with all the MassStorage drivers integrated into the Recovery Console? I'm interested in a "universal" Recovery Console CD which can handle different PCs with SATA drives, in order to avoid the hassle of F6 / loading drivers from floppy, because in many cases (esp. laptops), the drivers and a floppy disk are not immediately available.

I'm confused because the FAQ says: "Since version 3.06- the BTS drivers plugin is now enabled by default, there is no need for the user to do anything." It's true, my burned UBCD4Win does see my T60 laptop's SATA drive in full boot mode; however, booting to the Recovery Console from the same UBCD4Win CD doesn't have the drivers. (i.e. needs F6 but I don't have a floppy drive).

I found two posts by cdob about creating custom plugins to integrate a known SATA/RAID driver:

http://ubcd4win.com/...amp;#entry45176
http://ubcd4win.com/...amp;#entry41793

but I think that cdob's method applies to older UBCD4Win versions, since my 3.12 install doesn't have the mentioned [UBCD4Win]\drivers\SCSIAdapter\ source path. Also, it would have to be manually done for each possible driver!?

Therfore, I'm wondering if all the DPS MassStorage drivers can be integrated so that Recovery Console can use them. I thought about slipstreaming DPS MassStorage on the XP SP2 as the source (is that possible?), but the UBCD4Win instructions say that I need to use a vanilla / unmodified XP source.

Any thoughts for this clueless user?

MassStorage drivers plugin dosn't support Recovery Console yet.

You may create a plugin yourself.

First copy file (UBCD4Win)\plugin\DriverPacks.net\MassStorage.inf to MassStorageCMDC.inf

Edit file MassStorageCMDC.inf, use header section
[Version]
Signature="$Windows NT$"

[PEBuilder]
Name="# DriverPacks.net - MassStorage - Recovery Console"
Enable=1

[WinntDirectories]
a="CMDC",2

[SourceDisksFolders]
MassStorage\wnt5=a

[SourceDisksFolders.2600]
MassStorage\wxp=a

[SourceDisksFolders.3790]
MassStorage\w2k3=a

Next replace all "txtsetup.sif" with "cmdc\txtsetup.sif"
Example line
"cmdc\txtsetup.sif","SourceDisksFiles","VMSCSI.SY_", "1,,,,,,4_,4,1,,,1,4"

If you update MassStorage.inf in future, then update MassStorageCMDC.inf too.

You may slipstreaming DPS MassStorage on the XP SP2. However that's for XP installation media.
As for UBCD4Win use a vanilla / unmodified XP source files.

Thanks cdob, that worked! Recovery Console status bar shows a list of many new drivers being loaded, and the SATA drive on my T60 now gets recognized w/o requiring a floppy.
