Hint: this happened before too (RC5).
Seems to be related to special NICs (Intel?)

Building from sp1a?
(and you should cuz I do Posted Image Posted Image)

Anyway - you'll get an error similar to: ...\UBCD4Win\BartPE\CMDC\NTKRNLMP.EX_" returned error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.

This is because NTKRNLMP.EX_ does not exist in XPPro.sp1a source files - but NTKRNLMP.EXE DOES exist.

So the solution to fix UBCD4Win when building from sp1a is to navigate to: ...\plugin\Multiboot-003\WindowsCMDC, and find CMDC.inf.
Change line 149 from NTKRNLMP.EX_=a,,2 to NTKRNLMP.EXE=a,,2

As well, you should, when starting PE Builder, click on the Plugins button, and
  • ENABLE: !Critical: LargeIDE Fix (KB331958) <only enable for XP SP1 builds>
  • DISABLE: !Critical: DComLaunch Service <disable for XP SP1 builds>

So maybe the plugin should be changed to

NTKRNLMP.EX_=a,,4
NTKRNLMP.EXE=a,,4

and that would take care of sp1 and sp2 and not complain either way.
If you're afraid of taking any chances then the chances are great that you will never learn anything

@thomasjk

Was there any wireless network devices on the system whether or not it was being used?

What Nic's are in the system whether they are wireless or not?

I have a wireless card but it was not installed when I used RC7. I didn't have the drivers installed.

I have an on board Intel Pro 100VE NIC. I'll also check my RC5 build to see if the problem was there.

My thoughts exactly when I read Digi's post. This will be changed in the final release.

As for the NIC minor issue. I was booted on my P4 3.0 system which I believe has a RealTek onboard NIC. No wireless devices hooked up to that system. I agree that this is minor and I'm pretty positive that it causes no performance issues. So I doubt much time will be invested in finding the cause of this before 3.0 is made official.

I'll add more "news" on the site later today to help show off some more of the features I didn't mention in yesterday's news.

"My new computer came with Windows 7. Windows 7 is much more user-friendly than Windows Vista. I don't like that."
"Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?"

Can we smoke in here?
Cigarettes or crack?
Don't make me choose.

I just booted RC5 and the NIC issue is there also but as Ben says it doesn't appear to becausing any performance problems. I agree you ought to release 3.0 final without doing anything about it.

You CAN build the CD on a 2k system, but you must have XP SP2 or 2K3 SP1 for the source.

There might be a issue with infcachebuild.exe that will decrease your boot time, I'll have to see if Autobuild is set to handle this or not.

I have 9 errors while copying files from 2003 Server SP1. This is a 180-day evaluation CD I wanted to try.

I'll host pebuilder.log somewhere in a few minutes. If I don't, please send me a PM.
At this moment, I can say it is not because of the extension. For example, sparrow.sy could not be found and I don't have any sparrow.* file on the CD (I386 and driver.cab/sp1.cab)

Post the section of pebuilder.log that contains the errors or LINK to the entire log so I can see where the errors are comming from.

It's probobly comming from the CMDC plugin I just added, as this has not been tested with 2K3.

I'll run a build with 2K3 & see what I come up with.

EDIT:

OK, I can confirm that the errors are comming from the cmdc plugin, so just disable it for now till I get a work-around up for the new release. It's an easy fix just some things I need to look at.

Ok, thanks.
I'll make a new iso this weekend and keep you informed. :)

Btw, at startup (that time, with XP SP1), there's a window that lets you select some options like the sell, expert mode...
It got disabled before I had the time to pull my socket out. :P

And, it seems the CD, with drivers, is as fast to boot than the previous one, without drivers.

Hello to everybody in this great project. I just registered. Mainly to thank all of you :clapping: for great efforts you put in this release. I wasnt registered, but i followed all the posts since RC5.

I just want to make additional plugins issue more clear. If I (we) want to add our own plugins, will it be compatible with your NUMENU.XML ? Is there any specific structure of seperate XML file for each plugin?
I remember that someone metioned it in RC5 post. Is it the same way in this release too?
Shall we change something in your original NUMENU or somewhere else?

Can you guys recommend easiest way to add new plugins and to see all of them in start up menu in right categories? Maybe one example would be great!? :worthy:

Anyway, I am glad to be part of this great project. :wub:

btw, i did a full installation on files as they come originaly (no adding or editing) and everything works well. For now, i am testing on VirtualPC, but soon I will move to my main PC.
I liked the integration with UBCD. It added few very nice options.

Thanks for all the great posts from our excellent users!!
I'm glad that everyone is noticing the quicker boot times and most of the other great features we've been working our asses off on for the past several months.
I think all reporting is looking pretty good right now and am pretty confident that after a few minor tweaks, 3.0 should be released by the end of this week. The only thing I need to do is find time to get all of the new pages for the site completed in time for the release!!

Thanks again everyone!!! :clapping: :clapping:
