Has anyone give this a thought?.. this would be perfect for an ISO of barts ubcd4win on a Flash drive... I've tried to find something for a normal usb drive but there's nothing out there.
altho Im not sure if this would work under a normal boot up

Great suggestion and very good idea. However... I think that the U3 actually emulates a CD-Drive inside of Windows and not at any other time. When i got my titanium cruzer 2GB U3, I plugged it in one time to see what U3 was all about and promptly uninstalled it from my stick to never use it again. To each there own on U3 but I do not think you can do what you are wanting to do...

I think this idea might have some merit. Did you read the article?
Staples was having a sale on U3 devices, I might pick up another and do some testing.

There is one problem the U3 Reatogo part will only boot on BIOS that recognizes the U3 part as a CD, like my AMI BIOS. What I need now is a hack to make this partition appear to be a USB CD drive to all BIOS.

I had not read the article no... I was going by memory on U3 and how it emulates a CD-Drive to allow it to have the auto run feature. USB natively does not have that capability although it at times acts just a like CD on my machines when it comes to autorun. It may work. It may not... That is the nature of USB booting whether it is off of the USB itself or what have you is very unpredictable. Not every machine implements USB booting the same even though USB is a standard. I personally won't be checking out this method as booting from USB itself does what I need it to do and I don't have to worry about how much RAM I have in the machine to load the ISO into RAM.
Good luck in trying it out! I wish both of you good luck and success in your adventure of USB U3 booting.
